On October 3, 2022, in Fort Worth, JamieLynn and AmieLynn were born, and their parents, Amanda Arciniega, and James Finley, were shocked to learn that their daughters were conjoined.
After months of planning and evaluation, the hospital separated the twins in an 11-hour surgery in January 2023, making them the first set of conjoined twins successfully separated at Cook Children’s Hospital Center.

More than a dozen medical professionals, included four child surgeons, three anesthesia professionals, and two plastic surgeons (one for each girl), worked for 11 hours to successfully separate JamieLynn and AmieLynn three months after their birth.
The twins’ mother expressed relief that everything was well after their hospital stay. However, AmieLynn also required special attention while recovering from another chest surgery.
Although their mother admits they still require ongoing therapy, the twins’ lives have changed dramatically since their surgery. Despite this, several of their family members were able to hold them and celebrate their baby shower with them.
