Monique Davaul, a 30-year-old woman from Newport News, Virginia, had the incredible fortune of giving birth to three adorable children on April 12.
Monique’s family of six already included twins before the birth of her fraternal triplets called, Jihad, Mielle, and Noelle at the prestigious Riverside Regional Medical Center (RRMC).
The newborns needed specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for a few weeks after delivery. They made tremendous improvement, however, and were released in time for a significant holiday: Mother’s Day.
As each infant was taken home from the hospital at a different time, the road to reaching this milestone was full of expectations. Jihad and Mielle could return home earlier in the month, and Noelle completed the trio when she arrived safely on the Friday before the well-known Mother’s Day holiday.
When Monique suddenly found out she was eight weeks pregnant while getting ready for her 30th birthday celebration, it was the beginning of her journey to welcoming triplets.
Monique lovingly remembers the remarks of an intelligent colleague who playfully proposed the potential of having twins, or maybe triplets, when she was first ignorant of the several blessings inside her womb.
This idea intrigued her, so she went to the doctor to learn more about her coworker’s humorous forecast.
Monique couldn’t wait to tell her colleague the fantastic news, so she immediately called and made the shocking disclosure, screaming, “You were 100% correct! I’m expecting triplets”. She needed to make touch with the location she had rented a space for her birthday party.
She was shocked when the doctor revealed that she was carrying not one, not two, but three priceless lives.
Monique excitedly announced that she would have a compelling “gender reveal” event instead of a traditional party to celebrate the happy news of her expecting triple bundles of joy.
Monique was already familiar with the struggles and joys of multiple pregnancies since she had previously gone through the experience of bearing twins.
This time, however, she discovered that she had repeated bouts of morning sickness, a symptom suggesting that she may have a girl or multiple kids. Monique reflected on her journey and spoke with Good Morning America about it.
She said, “Intense bouts of sickness plagued me, leading me to believe that I was expecting a girl or carrying more than one baby.” They initially thought Monique’s announcement of the impending delivery of triplets was a fun joke when she collected her three boys, including the twins Nasir and Sincere, aged six, and her eight-year-old child.
But when the truth set in, their interest intensified, and they enthusiastically barraged Monique with inquiries such as, “Mommy, when will the babies arrive?”
Monique acknowledged her gratitude for the support and help from her twins Nasir and Sincere, saying, “They are always eager to lend a hand.” Monique took a leave of absence from her job throughout her pregnancy, devoting the subsequent four months to caring for her expanding family.
Until the terrible moment when her water broke, signifying that it was time for her to welcome her children into the world, regular check-ups were dutifully planned every two weeks.
The delivery of Monique’s triplets—two girls and one boy—by cesarean section was a historic occasion for the RRMC. Surprisingly, it was the first triplet delivery at the hospital since 2018. The nurses at RRMC issued a statement in which they expressed their delight and happiness.
