When Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Disagreed
For those who have been keeping up with the royal family, stories of disagreements between Prince Harry and Prince William, along with their wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, are quite known. It’s hard to imagine the days when everything seemed peaceful between them.
Initially, when Harry introduced Meghan to his brother and sister-in-law, it looked like a true friendship would form. The media quickly dubbed them the Fab Four, predicting a wonderful collaboration.
However, as the date of their wedding in 2018 got closer, tensions began to surface, showing clear signs of strain in their previously friendly relations.
One particularly famous dispute involved bridesmaid dresses, a matter highlighted in Harry’s revealing memoir, “Spare.” In his book, Harry describes how Kate got in touch with Meghan, worried about Charlotte’s dress not fitting properly just before the big day.
“Meg didn’t respond to Kate right away,” Harry explained, as Meghan was preoccupied with several wedding details and dealing with her father’s heart surgery. He continued, “The next morning, she texted Kate that our tailor was ready to help. This wasn’t enough.
“Meg asked Kate if she was aware of the situation with her father. Kate knew but insisted on talking about the dresses. The wedding was approaching fast!”
The conversation went on: Meghan, seemingly frustrated, responded: “Yes, Kate, I know…”
The Emotional Impact on Meghan
This wasn’t the only disagreement they had. Another instance took place during the rehearsals for the wedding day, when Kate forgot a small detail.
Meghan jokingly suggested that perhaps Kate, who had given birth to Prince Louis less than a month before, was having ‘baby brain.’
Harry pointed out in “Spare” how Kate didn’t find this comment amusing.
According to Harry, during a meeting intended for mending fences after the honeymoon, Kate brought up this exchange with Meghan.
Harry recounted how Kate addressed the issue: “You referred to my hormones. We are not that close for you to comment on my hormones.”
Meghan appeared confused by the backlash and tried to explain that it was how she usually spoke to friends. William then called Meghan ‘rude,’ stating that it was not the way people in Britain acted.
Meghan retorted by telling William firmly, “take your finger out of my face.” It was quite a dramatic moment.
