A mother in Florida gives birth to a rare set of identical twins.

Savannah Combs, 23, was ecstatic when she discovered she was carrying twins. She had no idea the babies would have something even more extraordinary in common: they were both diagnosed with Down Syndrome.

This increased their rarity, as the chances of having identical twins with this medical problem are about one in every 4,000 births.

In 1980, only 11 out of 1,000 newborns were classed as twins; however, recent statistics reveal that this figure has climbed to 33 out of 1,000. Yet, regarding global demographics, it remains a relatively rare occurrence.

Savannah and her husband, Justin Ackerman, were sorrowful when they learned their kids, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, suffered from a rare disease.

Despite some censure from others, Savannah was beaming with pride for her tiny gems. She documented her trip with her daughters on TikTok, where she quickly gained a following.

The love and appreciation they received from everyone around them moved the Middleburg, Florida, couple.

Savannah’s pregnancy had been terminated due to a medical diagnosis that the infants would not live. Yet, she chose to persevere and give them a second shot.

Every prenatal appointment during which her babies were still alive was a tremendous blessing for her. When the time came, she was 29 weeks pregnant and admitted to the hospital, giving birth to twin daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, on May 12th, 2021.

Savannah discovered that both of her daughters had Down Syndrome after their delivery while her husband was at boot camp.

Savannah’s twins were mono-di twins, which is a rare occurrence. This meant they had separate amniotic sacs but shared a placenta, making them indistinguishable.

This is incredibly rare, and when combined with the fact that one of the twins has Down Syndrome, it becomes an even more unusual occurrence, with a one in two million chance of occurring. Despite their circumstances, Savannah stated that her children are like any other.

Savannah is a young mother documenting her children’s development on TikTok. She joyfully extols their feisty and upbeat characteristics as they strive to meet their goals.

Despite the delight Savannah derives from watching her children develop, some people have felt compelled to condemn her family, causing Savannah to respond to nasty remarks from unkind people on the internet.

Savannah is adamant that, while her children are a step behind in development, they are still capable of great things with perseverance and hard effort.

She uses their remarkable development as an example: they have feelings, beating hearts, and the ability to converse and accomplish tasks just like any other person.

Savannah continues to share optimism and encouragement through her social media presence, hoping that more people will recognize the incredible potential that her children and others like them possess.

When the mother shared images of her newborn twins, she received a scathing reaction; one person stated flatly that they would not want ‘kids like that.’

On the other hand, Savannah had the finest possible response: God knew precisely what He was doing when He sent these incredible infants to loving parents who would embrace them for who they were.

Despite what others thought, she insisted that these children were meant for her and her family.
