Adding a new member to the family is always a delightful experience, especially when it’s shared with someone you hold close to your heart. This is a sentiment Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have embraced since they tied the knot in 2012 and began building their family.
Alec and Hilaria’s journey began in 2011 when they met, and just a year later, they were married. Wasting no time, they welcomed their first child together in 2013. Their family continued to grow with four more children over the years, followed by a sixth child through surrogacy.
April 2021 brought joyous news as the couple announced they were expecting their seventh child, much to the delight of their fans who were thrilled to see their expanding brood.
Hilaria joyfully announced the arrival of their new baby daughter on her Instagram, sharing several pictures and videos. Her caption read: “She’s here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true, ilaria catalina irena.”
Despite the joy of their growing family, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin faced some criticism upon welcoming their seventh child.
This child is Alec Baldwin’s eighth, including his eldest daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger. In her Instagram post, Hilaria shared that their daughter was born on September 22, 2022, weighing 6 lbs. and 13 ounces, and assured followers that both mother and child were doing well.
Another heartfelt post by Hilaria revealed how excited their children were about welcoming their new sibling: “Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home.”

Hilaria concluded her message with a warm note: “Much love to you all. We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful news with you.”

The Baldwins released an official birth announcement through People Magazine, expressing their gratitude: “How grateful we feel to welcome our newest little daughter into this world. Just as magical and filled with love as every other little person we have been blessed with.”
Even though the couple cherishes their large family, Hilaria Baldwin acknowledged that not everyone appreciates their decision. Recently, she posted: “7th baby: when people ask or comment, we often go to silly and very self-deprecating jokes on my part. I love to laugh at myself—so it’s all good…keeps me sane. All jokes aside, however, I am grateful for this experience.”
Hilaria shared more about her feelings: “I know too well the joys and the losses, the beauty and the heartache, that motherhood brings. I have learned to respect and embrace the wonderful, the hard, the uncomfortable, the magical, and the unknown of this incredible process I am so blessed to experience again and again.”

The Baldwins are evidently proud of their family, overjoyed with their latest addition, although not everyone was quick to congratulate them. Some critics took issue with their newborn’s name, Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin.
Hilaria and Alec Baldwin are known for choosing distinct names for their children, often with Spanish roots. However, after the controversy over Hilaria’s claimed Spanish background and allegedly adopting a fake Spanish accent in 2020, many were surprised by their choice of a name for their seventh child.
“Her blatant trying to be Spanish is really quite irritating, why is it okay? Why does she keep trying? Has it really gone to their heads that much,” one commented.
Another said: “Alec Baldwin’s wife faking being Spanish is so crazy. Changing her name from Hillary to Hilaria, naming all 7 of their kids with those roots, pretending to forget the English word for ‘cucumber’, faking an accent. She should’ve changed her name to hilarious instead.”

However, some defended Hilaria, noting that Ilaria is actually Italian for “Hilary.” The name means cheerful and was quite popular among Italian girls back in 2006.

The name choice continues to spark conversations, leaving readers to wonder about the motivations behind it. What are your thoughts?
