Just as expected, there was plenty to talk about, including a moment that quickly went viral. This involved Donald and Melania Trump, where it seemed the First Lady turned away when Donald attempted to kiss her, making for an awkward scene during the inauguration.
Before Trump’s important speech, right after taking the oath of office, he and Melania attended the traditional church service that officially marks the start of the new administration. This is a time-honored occasion, ending the era of the departing president.
Right in front of the cameras, Trump seemed to attempt a kiss, a somewhat unusual show of public affection. Melania, wearing a striking hat that hid much of her face, turned away, causing Trump’s attempt to be unsuccessful.
The incident sparked widespread discussion and theories online. Many questioned whether Melania purposely turned her face to avoid the kiss or if it was simply a coincidental act that unfolded live, before millions.
Trying to shed light on the incident, body language expert Judi James offered her analysis. Speaking to Paddy Power, she suggested that Donald Trump entered the event with a “slow alpha presence,” his “mouth shrug smile” indicating a serious approach to his role.
James noted that Trump, upon reaching Melania, “tenderly” took her hand in what resembled a romantic gesture typical at wedding ceremonies.
Melania’s Kiss Avoidance
James explained further: “He leaned in for a kiss, and it initially appeared he was aiming for a lip-to-lip connection. However, Melania moved towards him but turned her face, opting for a cheek kiss instead of a mouth kiss.”
James described it as a ‘heart-stopping moment’ suggesting their coordination was somewhat off.
Melania’s attire also caught attention. Her dark boater hat and high-necked outfit seemed too somber for the day. Some people compared her appearance to that of a “mob wife at a funeral” or “Dark Maga,” bringing her fashion choices under scrutiny.
There are rumors that Melania may not reside full-time in the White House during Donald’s second term. It’s believed she might split her time between Washington and New York, where their son, Barron, is attending school.
Donald Trump’s Bold Commitments
Donald Trump’s inauguration speech was packed with ambitious promises. One major promise included tackling immigration on the very first day. He stated, “I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out.”
Trump assured, “I will rescue every city and town overtaken and put those vicious criminals in jail, then expel them from our country swiftly.”
Moreover, Trump vowed to declassify secret government files related to the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King Jr. He also mentioned potential pardons for individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
Trump’s plan also targeted birthright citizenship, which could be challenging as it’s enshrined in the Constitution. Additionally, he aimed to slash federal funding for schools teaching “inappropriate” topics.
He declared, “On day one, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity,” according to NPR.
