As the inauguration ceremony unfolded, Donald Trump, stepping into his role as the 47th president, arrived for a church service with his wife, Melania Trump, beside him. This marked the beginning of his second term in office and the conclusion of Joe Biden’s presidency.
In his address, Trump declared, “The golden age of America begins right now,” while identifying himself as a “peacemaker and unifier.”
Ceremonial Proceedings in Washington DC
Within the Washington DC arena, Trump found himself amidst his supporters, signing numerous orders amidst their presence.
Following this, he engaged with the crowd by distributing pens.
A noticeable moment, however, came before he entered the chamber to take his oath when Trump attempted to share a kiss with Melania. Wearing a custom-designed hat by Eric Javits, she seemed to sidestep the kiss, perhaps due to the hat’s brim, resulting in Trump giving her an air kiss.
Body language analyst Judi James shared her insights with Paddy Power on what Melania’s gesture could signify.
James observed that Trump arrived “with a slow alpha presence,” donning a “mouth shrug smile” that suggested he was approaching his role with seriousness.
In an intimate moment, Trump tenderly held Melania’s hand in what James described as a “romantic, hand-linking gesture akin to those seen at wedding ceremonies.”
James elaborated, saying, “He leaned in for what initially appeared to be a lip-to-lip kiss.”
Melania leaned toward him, positioning for a cheek kiss rather than one on the lips.
The exchange concluded with both making small “mwa” sounds with their mouths.
Despite appearances, James remarked that Melania was pleased with this affectionate interaction.
“Melania’s smile conveyed her appreciation for not only being acknowledged but also recognized as a significant figure alongside her husband, indicating their shared commitment at the White House,” said James.
She further noted that the couple seemed out of “synch” during Trump’s inauguration.
