Collin Gosselin is speaking out about his complicated childhood, his estrangement from most of his family and a new allegation involving money he and his siblings earned as children.
The 22-year-old grew up in front of television cameras alongside his parents, Jon and Kate Gosselin, and his seven siblings on the hit TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8. Now an adult, Collin is sharing his version of what happened behind the scenes and why his relationships with his mother and most of his brothers and sisters eventually fell apart.
During an interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, Collin also claimed he has seen documentation showing that Kate withdrew money from trusts established for the children. He alleges that more than $100,000 was involved and that some of the money was used to furnish a home.

Kate did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment about Collin’s latest allegations.
Who Are Jon and Kate Gosselin?
Jon and Kate became household names after welcoming sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel in 2004. They were already parents to twin daughters Mady and Cara, who were born in 2000.
Their unusually large family eventually became the focus of Jon & Kate Plus 8.
The reality series followed the everyday challenges of Jon and Kate raising eight young children, including everything from meals and family outings to vacations and birthdays.
The show became a major success for TLC and ran for five seasons between 2007 and 2009. However, Jon and Kate’s marriage deteriorated while their family remained in the public eye.
Following their divorce, the program was eventually renamed Kate Plus 8, with Kate continuing to appear alongside the children. That version of the series continued for several more seasons before ending in 2017.
Years later, Jon claimed during an appearance on The Domenick Nati Show that he had been earning “seven figures plus” before leaving the reality series. He also said money earned by the children had been placed into trusts.

Collin’s Relationship With His Parents
Collin’s relationship with his mother has been particularly strained.
As a child, he was removed from the family home and later placed in a behavioral health facility. Kate has said the decision followed years of treatment and serious behavioral problems.
Collin has disputed his mother’s description of what happened.
He has instead alleged that Kate isolated him from his siblings and subjected him to abuse. In his new memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin makes additional allegations about his upbringing and time away from his family.
Kate has previously denied Collin’s version of events and said in a 2023 statement that he had received multiple psychiatric diagnoses and was placed in a facility because outpatient treatment was no longer sufficient.
Collin eventually left the facility and went to live with his father. Jon later obtained custody of him, and Collin’s sister Hannah also lived with Jon.
Now, Collin says his relationship with his mother remains nonexistent.
Collin Makes New Claim About the Children’s Money
In the middle of his latest round of revelations is a financial dispute that has followed the Gosselin family for years.
Collin told Page Six that he has seen documents concerning money that belonged to him and his siblings.
“I want [my siblings] to hear this: I want them to know that, yes, she did take your money,” Collin alleged. “She took all of our money, she took money from us.”
He further claimed the money came from a “collective trust” connected to earnings from the family’s television career.
Collin then made another allegation about where some of that money went.
“She actually furnished her lake house in North Carolina with the money she took from me and my siblings,” he told Page Six.
Publicly reported court records provide some background to the long-running financial dispute. According to a 2019 court filing previously reported by The Sun and Page Six, Kate acknowledged making two $50,000 withdrawals from accounts belonging to the children. She characterized the withdrawals as loans that were needed to cover expenses for herself and the children.
That distinction is important: while Collin now characterizes the money as having been “taken,” Kate’s position in the court records was that the funds were borrowed.
Around the same period, Kate purchased a North Carolina lake house for a reported $750,000.
In 2022, Jon alleged that Collin and Hannah had still not been reimbursed. Page Six reported at the time that a judge had directed Kate to make plans to repay the loans.

Collin Is Estranged From Most of His Siblings
The family’s problems go far beyond money.
Collin says he has had virtually no relationship with most of his siblings for years.
Aside from Hannah, Collin writes that he has not seen or spoken with Mady, Cara, Alexis, Aaden, Leah or Joel since he was around 15.
He believes their separation stems partly from how he was portrayed to them when they were children.
“I was manipulated to believe horrible things about my father, and that’s the same thing she did to them,” Collin alleged to Page Six.
He also claimed that he was isolated inside the family home, including being required to eat meals separately from his siblings.
According to Collin, his behavior at the time was a reaction to what he says he was experiencing rather than evidence that he was inherently troubled.

Kate Has Strongly Disputed Collin’s Account
Kate has previously presented a dramatically different version of her son’s childhood.
In a lengthy 2023 statement, she said Collin had received “multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years” and maintained that placing him in a treatment facility was done for safety reasons.
She also alleged that Collin had displayed “unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies” toward family members.
Collin disputes those characterizations. In his memoir, he says a psychiatric evaluation he underwent as an adult found no evidence of a psychiatric diagnosis or behavioral disorder.
The conflicting accounts have become a major part of the family’s public feud, with Collin and Kate offering sharply different descriptions of the events that led to their estrangement.

Collin Is Telling His Own Story
Collin is now attempting to tell his side of the story through his memoir and television appearances.
In addition to releasing In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, he is appearing on Season 5 of Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
For Collin, however, revisiting his childhood also means confronting the family relationships that remain broken.
His latest allegations about the children’s reality-TV earnings add another chapter to a dispute that began long after Jon & Kate Plus 8 stopped filming.
For now, Collin remains close to his father and sister Hannah but estranged from Kate and most of his other siblings. Whether those relationships can eventually be repaired remains unclear.
