When it comes to insects in our homes, some are harder to tolerate than others. Especially if you live in a rural area, you might find yourself dealing with flies, ants, spiders, and more trying to invade your space. One of the more unwelcome visitors is the earwig – a creepy-crawly that can give anyone the heebie-jeebies.
While earwigs are harmless, they certainly aren’t cute. As one person put it, “I can handle spiders building their webs in my corners, and the occasional fly buzzing around the kitchen won’t ruin my day. But earwigs? No, thank you!”
If you’re faced with an earwig problem, Facebook user Alicia Alexander has a great tip to share. She suggests filling a shallow bowl with half a cup of olive oil and placing it outside. Earwigs are attracted to the oil but once they enter the bowl, they can’t escape. In less than 24 hours, Alicia caught a surprising number of earwigs using this method. She even shared photos to prove it!
You might be worried that finding earwigs in your home means there are bigger issues, such as rotting wood. However, that’s not necessarily the case. According to the experts, earwigs seeking warmth indoors is nothing to be alarmed about. So while they might be an annoyance, they pose no real harm.
If you have an earwig problem, give the olive oil method a try. It’s a simple and efficient way to manage these creepy crawlies in your home. Don’t let them ruin your peace of mind!
Remember, a few bugs here and there are normal, but there are always solutions to keep them at bay.
