Kid Rock Faces Criticism During All-American Halftime Show

The Seattle Seahawks impressed with their performance against the New England Patriots, winning 29-13 at Leviโ€™s Stadium. However, there was another spectacle unfolding that day, one away from the field.

Kid Rockโ€™s Star Role

Super Bowl Sunday offered not just the grand official halftime show but also an alternative that caught the attention of many. As the NFL spotlight shone on the famous Bad Bunny, a considerable audience switched over to enjoy Turning Point USAโ€™s โ€œAll-American Halftime Show.โ€

Kicking off the event, performers Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett set the stage before handing it over to the main act, Kid Rock. At 55, the rocker took charge of the conservative-backed livestream, hailed as a cultural counterpoint to the NFLโ€™s mainstream performance.

However, as soon as Kid Rock appeared on stage, many viewers noticed a recurring problem.

Accusations of lip-syncing quickly surfaced.

โ€œNice lip syncing,โ€ commented one onlooker.

โ€œDid Kid Rock just badly lip-sync through his song? Or was my stream messed up?โ€ pondered another.

A third viewer chimed in, โ€œWas that a bad lip-sync job by Kid Rock, or was there an issue with my stream? Waiting for your thoughts on this. Thanks!โ€

Mixed Reactions

Viewers werenโ€™t shy in sharing their thoughts.

โ€œDid Kid Rock do like a minute of lip-sync, then leave? LOL,โ€ one questioned.

Another opined: โ€œIt was just a minute of lip-sync before he dipped.โ€

โ€œI thought Kid Rock would crush it. He just played a track and did a dance,โ€ expressed another.

โ€œPretty underwhelming. He came out, lip-synced for a bit, dropped the mic multiple times while still โ€˜singing,โ€™โ€ said one critic.

An observer added humorously, โ€œKid Rock performed for one minute, lip-synced every other line from โ€˜Bawitdabaโ€™, and goofed around with his fedora before it abruptly switched to classical music.โ€

The scrutiny didnโ€™t end there. Discussions about past lyrics from his 2001 track โ€œCool, Daddy Coolโ€ cropped up again. The controversial line, โ€œYoung ladies, young ladies, I like โ€™em underage. See, some say thatโ€™s statutory. But I say itโ€™s mandatory,โ€ was back in the spotlight.

Old Controversies Resurface

Adding fuel to the fire were old clips from a 2001 Saturday Night Live showing, featuring a joke about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, then only 14. He said, โ€œWhy is every guy in America waiting on these chicks to turn 18? โ€ฆ I mean โ€“ you know what I say โ€“ if thereโ€™s grass on the field, play ball.โ€

Such remarks reignited backlash.

โ€œSO gross!โ€ one viewer proclaimed.

โ€œHeโ€™s a horrid person. Itโ€™s clear why the MAGA crowd adores him,โ€ another retorted.

Yet, not every comment aimed at Kid Rock was negative.

โ€œKid Rockโ€™s โ€˜Bawitdabaโ€™ was off the charts. Awesome performance!โ€ shared a fan.

โ€œTPUSAโ€™s halftime act was epic. Marking history tonight. Love you, Charlie,โ€ exclaimed another.

The event drew a vast online audience, peaking at about 5 million viewers despite a slight drop during Kid Rockโ€™s performance. As of now, the YouTube video of the show has gathered over 18 million views.
