Kirk Cameron, well-known for his role in the classic TV series โGrowing Pains,โ has decided to say farewell to California. On Wednesday, he publicly shared the news about his move from the Golden State.
For Cameron, the decision to leave wasnโt sudden. He noted that California had been on a particular trajectory for quite some time, leading to increased division among its people.
As a father of six, part of the reason for choosing Tennessee was its proximity to three of his grown children who already reside there. But more than that, he was on the hunt for a place that promoted a โhealthy freedom mindset.โ
In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Cameron expressed his comfort in being somewhere that stands for values like God, family, and country. โIf everything hits the fan and economic issues take a turn for the worse,โ he said, โpeople want to be surrounded by like-minded individuals.โ Thatโs the kind of community heโs found in Tennessee.

Interestingly, Cameron described finding many โCalifornia refugeesโ now calling Tennessee their home. โItโs shocking how many Californians are here,โ he exclaimed, adding with humor, โwhen I meet them at the grocery store, I say, โDonโt California our Tennessee.โโ
Much like his sister, Candace Cameron Bure, Cameron chose to leave California for reasons related to safety and security. He believes that despite the influx of former Californians, Tennessee retains its charm with โgood wholesome valuesโ and, of course, its โgood whiskey,โ making it the kind of place people want to settle in.
More on Kirk Cameronโs Move
Relocation is always a significant decision, especially when it involves moving across the country. For Kirk Cameron, the move was about aligning with his values and finding a place where he could feel secure and at home.
California, once known for its allure and promise, has lost its shine for some, due to several challenges, including economic fluctuations and social divides. Cameronโs move to Tennessee suggests a longing for community and stability, something he felt was lacking back in California.
He isnโt the only celebrity whoโs left California. Cameron joins a growing list of high-profile figures seeking a quieter, more stable life in other parts of the country. Itโs about finding a balanceโliving in a place that resonates personally and values similar principles.
In essence, Cameronโs move can also be seen as a symbolic shift, where quality of life and peace of mind take precedence over the glitz and glamour associated with traditional Hollywood life.
The warm, welcoming nature of Tennessee and its focus on core values indeed seem to offer the environment Cameron was seeking for himself and his family. As he settles into his new home, Cameron appears eager to embrace the simple yet profound joys found in close-knit communities.
