Updated-For nearly three years, model and social media influencer Sydney Towle has invited millions of people into one of the most difficult chapters of her life. Instead of hiding her struggles, she chose to document them with honesty, hope, and determination, creating a community that rallied around her every step of the way.
Now, her family has shared a heartbreaking update.

Sydney Towle has died at the age of 26 after a long battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Her family shared the heartbreaking news on herย social mediaย pages on Thursday, Aug. 6, revealing that she passed away the day before.
โWe will always love you so much, Sydney,โ the post said. โI am so proud of how hard you fought. I love you.โ
The tribute included a photo of Towle standing on a mountain peak alongside the message: โRest in Peace Sydney Elizabeth Towle. An endless ray of sunshine. A daughter, a sister and friend to so many.โ
Just one day earlier, on Aug. 4, Sydneyโs brother, Austin, shared a photo on TikTok announcing that she had entered hospice care. The emotional image showed family members and close friends gathered around her hospital bed as they spent time together during her final days.
The update comes after months of Sydney openly sharing her latest cancer treatments with her more than 1.1 millionย TikTokย followers. Her videos offered an honest look at both the physical and emotional challenges she faced while continuing to encourage others who were going through their own health battles.
A Rare Cancer Diagnosis
Sydney was diagnosed about three years ago withย Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer that begins in the bile ducts. Because the disease is uncommon and often difficult to detect early, treatment can be especially challenging.
Throughout her journey, Sydney regularly updated followers about doctor visits, scans, hospital stays, and new treatment plans. Rather than focusing only on the difficult moments, she often shared messages of encouragement, reminding others not to lose hope.
Most recently, Sydney had been preparing for the next stage of a clinical trial involving tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy, an advanced form of immunotherapy designed to help the bodyโs immune system attack cancer cells.
She expected to spend several weeks in the hospital while receiving the treatment and documented the experience through TikTok videos, giving followers an inside look at what the process involved.

Choosing Hope Every Day
One thing that stood out to many of Sydneyโs followers was her positive outlook.
Even while facing serious health setbacks, she explained that choosing optimism helped her keep moving forward.
She said people often asked how she stayed so hopeful despite everything she had endured. Sydney believed there was little benefit in expecting the worst when she could instead focus on the possibility that things might improve.
She also admitted that reading comments online predicting the outcome of her illness was incredibly painful.
Some people wrote that she only had days left to live, and Sydney acknowledged those messages were difficult to see. Still, she refused to allow strangersโ opinions to take away her hope.
Instead, she reminded herself that no one truly knows what the future holds. She often encouraged followers to believe that miracles are possible and that maintaining hope was always worth it, even during lifeโs darkest moments.
Those uplifting messages became a hallmark of her social media presence and inspired many people facing illnesses of their own.

Continuing Treatment Despite Setbacks
Only weeks before entering hospice care, Sydney was still pursuing every treatment option available.
She revealed that doctors had found tumors in her lungs, adding another difficult challenge to her cancer journey. Even so, she continued participating in the clinical trial in hopes it could help slow or stop the disease.
Earlier this year, she also celebrated a meaningful milestone when she walked the runway during Miami Swim Week.
Sydney modeled swimwear created specifically for people whose bodies had been changed by cancer treatment. Before making the trip, she received approval from a new medical specialist who believed she was healthy enough to travel.
The appearance became one of the most memorable moments in her recent journey, symbolizing confidence, resilience, and the importance of embracing life despite illness.
The Hardest Part of Being Young With Cancer
In an interview withย Peopleย in May 2025, Sydney spoke openly about one of the most painful parts of her diagnosis.
She explained that being diagnosed with cancer at such a young age often made her feel isolated.
While many of her friends were building careers, traveling, and spending time together, she frequently found herself unable to leave the house because of chemotherapy and its side effects.
Cancer treatment changed her body, drained her energy, and left her feeling unlike herself.
She said it often felt as though her own life had been placed on pause while everyone elseโs continued moving forward.
Those feelings are shared by many young adults facing serious illnesses, making Sydneyโs openness especially meaningful to others in similar situations.

Her videos gave followers a firsthand look at chemotherapy treatments, hospital stays, medical appointments, clinical trials, recovery periods, and the emotional highs and lows that came with living with cancer.
