MY HUSBAND TURNED OUR WEDDING NIGHT INTO A CATASTROPHE

The day had been a whirlwindโ€”flowers, vows, champagne toasts, endless smiles for the cameras. By the time we finally made it to the hotel suite, I wasย exhausted.

Ethan, my brand-new husband, was stillย buzzing with energy, but I could barely keep my eyes open. The moment my head hit the pillow, I sighed, sinking into the plush hotel bed.

Ethan chuckled beside me. โ€œRomantic start to our marriage, huh?โ€

I smirked sleepily. โ€œMmmโ€ฆ tomorrow. Promise.โ€

โ€œFair enough,โ€ he said, wrapping an arm around me. โ€œSweet dreams, Mrs. Carter.โ€

I smiled at the sound of my new name but was asleepย within seconds.

Sometime in the middle of the night, somethingย startled me awake.

The bed wasย shaking.

I groggily turned over, my mind still foggy from sleep. My first thought wasย an earthquake, but when my vision adjusted to the dim room, I saw something that made myย stomach drop.

Ethan wasnโ€™t beside me.

Instead, he was at the foot of the bed,ย kneeling over an open suitcase, frantically digging through it. The entire bed shook as he shoved clothes aside, his movements jerky andย desperate.

โ€œWhat the hell are you doing?โ€ I mumbled, rubbing my eyes.

Ethan froze, his back rigid. Then heย slowlyย turned to face me, his expression tight withย panic.

โ€œIโ€”uhโ€”nothing. Go back to sleep,โ€ he stammered, flashing aย forced smile.

But I wasย wide awake now.

I sat up, my drowsiness evaporating. โ€œNo, seriously. Whatโ€™s going on?โ€

Ethan let out a nervous laugh, running a hand through his hair. โ€œI justโ€ฆ canโ€™t find something.โ€

I glanced at the mess of our half-unpacked suitcases. โ€œWhat? Your toothbrush? Pajamas?โ€

His jaw tensed.

Then, before I could react, he grabbed theย entire suitcase,ย dragged it off the bed, andย dumped everything onto the floor.

โ€œWhat are you doing?!โ€ I yelped, scrambling to the edge of the bed.

Ethanย ignored me. His eyes wereย wild, scanning the scattered clothes and toiletries like a manย possessed.

And then, suddenlyโ€”he found it.

A small, black velvetย box.

I blinked.

โ€œโ€ฆEthan?โ€ My voice was wary now.

He gripped the box so tightly his knuckles turned white. He sat on his heels, staring at it, his entire body trembling.

Then, to my horror, heย opened it.

Inside wasย a ring.

But notย myย wedding ring.

Another one.

One I hadย never seen before.

My heartย plummeted.

โ€œWhatโ€ฆ is that?โ€ I whispered.

Ethanโ€™s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. โ€œIโ€”I can explain.โ€

โ€œExplainย what, exactly?โ€ My voice rose. โ€œThat you brought another wedding ring on our honeymoon?โ€

He exhaled sharply. โ€œItโ€™s not what you think.โ€

My mind wasย spinning. Had heโ€ฆ been engaged before? Was this a ring from anย ex-fiancรฉe? Or worseโ€”had he bought it forย someone else?

I feltย sick.

Ethan finally looked up at me, his eyesย filled with something raw.

โ€œNora,โ€ he murmured, โ€œI was going toย propose again.โ€

My mouth fell open. โ€œWhat?โ€

His fingers tightened around the box. โ€œI wanted toย do it right this time.โ€

I stared at him, utterlyย confused.ย โ€œEthan, weโ€™re already married.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ he said, looking down at the ring. โ€œButโ€ฆ I screwed up our first proposal. You remember.โ€

I did.

It had been at a crowded restaurant, the ring stuffed awkwardly into aย breadbasketย because he thought it would beย funny. I had choked on my wine when I found it. Instead of aย romantic moment, it had turned intoย chaosโ€”me coughing, the waiter panicking, Ethan blurting,ย โ€œWill you marry me?โ€ย while slapping my back.

It had beenย horribleโ€”but alsoย perfectly us.

Now, sitting on the floor of our honeymoon suite, Ethan lookedย devastated.

โ€œI wanted a second chance,โ€ he admitted. โ€œA proper one.โ€

I felt my angerย fade, replaced by somethingย warm.

โ€œYou meanโ€ฆ you were going to re-propose? To me?โ€

Ethan let out a breathless laugh. โ€œYeah. I wanted to surprise you. I planned this whole thingโ€”dinner, a private beach, the works.โ€ He sighed. โ€œBut then I forgot where I packed the damn ring, and when I woke up, I justโ€ฆ panicked.โ€

I glanced at the mess around himโ€”the scattered clothes, the open suitcase, the ring box clutched in his hands.

And suddenly, I startedย laughing.

It started as aย small chuckleย but quickly grew into full-blownย hysterics.

Ethan stared at me like Iโ€™d lost my mind. โ€œNora?โ€

I wiped my eyes. โ€œEthan, youโ€”โ€ I laughed harder. โ€œYou turned ourย wedding nightย into a catastrophe because you were looking for a way to proposeย again?โ€

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. โ€œUhโ€ฆ yeah.โ€

Iย shook my head, still laughing.ย โ€œOnly you, Ethan.ย Only you.โ€

He finally cracked a smile. โ€œSoโ€ฆ should I still do it?โ€

I raised an eyebrow. โ€œPropose?โ€

He nodded. โ€œYeah. Properly, this time.โ€

I thought about it for a second.

Then, with a grin, Iย crawled off the bed and sat beside him on the floor.

โ€œGo ahead,โ€ I said playfully. โ€œLetโ€™s see what you got.โ€

Ethan took a deep breath, then turned to face me, his expressionย soft, serious.

โ€œNora,โ€ he said, holding up the ring, โ€œeven though weโ€™re already married, I want you to know I would choose youย again and again. Every single day. Soโ€ฆ will you marry meโ€”again?โ€

I felt myย heart swell.

There, surrounded by a mess ofย our honeymoon luggage, Iย fell in love with him all over again.

I held out my hand. โ€œYes, you idiot.โ€

He slipped the ring onto my fingerโ€”next to my wedding band.

And just like that, ourย disastrousย wedding night turned intoย the best one of my life.
