Prince Harry’s devastating grief over the loss of Pandora Cooper-Key, the sister of his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas, has touched the hearts of many. At the age of 51, Pandora lost her long battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of strength and kindness.
A Courageous Battle
Pandora Cooper-Key fought against cancer for an incredible 24 years. However, when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that couldn’t be removed, she knew her time was limited. Despite this, she never lost her fighting spirit.
A Connection through Love
It was Princess Eugenie, daughter of Sarah Ferguson, who introduced Cressida Bonas to Prince Harry back in May 2012. Their relationship had its ups and downs, eventually coming to an end in April 2014. However, both Cressida and another ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, attended Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018, showing their support.
A Remarkable Woman
Cooper-Key, known for her work as a ceramicist and former accessories designer at Vivienne Westwood, faced the unimaginable. She shared that her family had planned her funeral “thousands of times.” Her resilience and ability to find strength in the face of adversity were truly inspiring.
A Brave Journey
Pandora Cooper-Key’s fight against cancer began at the age of 26 when she was diagnosed with Paget’s Disease, a rare form of breast cancer. Despite the odds, she triumphed over the disease and even became a mother. However, her battle was far from over.
A sarcoma, an aggressive and rare type of tumor, was discovered behind her left eye shortly after giving birth. Numerous surgeries followed, leaving her with facial challenges and daily seizures. But Pandora remained determined to live life to the fullest.
Remembering an Extraordinary Life
Cooper-Key’s death notice eloquently described her as a beloved daughter, a loving mother to Bow and Nestor, and a cherished sister. Her impact extended beyond her immediate family, with her work bringing attention to sarcoma and raising awareness about the struggles faced by patients.
A Lasting Legacy
Pandora’s kindness, courage, and indomitable spirit will forever be remembered. Although she is no longer with us, her influence lives on through the people whose lives she touched.
We extend our deepest condolences to Pandora’s family, friends, and everyone who loved her. Sarcoma UK and the entire community affected by this disease are immensely grateful for Pandora’s contributions. Her legacy will continue to inspire us to fight for a brighter future.
