Prince Harry has renewed his hopes of repairing his relationship with Prince William. But one royal commentator believes his public appeal could meet a painfully familiar response.
After years of tension, Prince Harry says he still wants to mend his relationships with his brother and father.
Speaking in a recent GQ interview, the Duke of Sussex described reconciliation as a priority and discussed the difficulty of moving beyond family disagreements. He acknowledged that emotional wounds can endure while encouraging people to reconsider how they carry the past.

But wanting to reconnect is only one part of the challenge. Whether William shares that willingness remains unclear.
Harry’s comments draw attention
During the conversation, Harry suggested that some people do not want reconciliation to happen. His spokesperson subsequently clarified that the remark was general and was not directed at William or another member of the Royal Family.
The interview was recorded in September and released on October 20, as senior royals welcomed the Sultan of Oman to Windsor for a state visit.
For those hoping the brothers might rebuild their bond, Harry’s words offered a glimpse of possibility. However, a source close to Harry told PEOPLE that his relationship with William remained distant, with no contact between them.
Why one expert expects no public response

Royal journalist Tom Sykes told Page Six that he doubts William will publicly acknowledge the appeal.
“He never does, and his silence is itself the response,” Sykes said.
In Sykes’s assessment, discussing reconciliation in a magazine could frustrate William by placing public pressure on him to resolve a private dispute. That is the journalist’s interpretation, rather than a response issued by the prince.
Returning to Britain has not restored their royal roles

Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK has brought renewed attention to their place within the family. However, a letter sent on King Charles’s behalf reaffirmed that their move did not change their status as non-working royals.
Their return may create opportunities for family contact, but geographical closeness does not necessarily mean the brothers are closer to resolving their differences.
For now, Harry has publicly expressed his hope. Whether that leads to a private conversation with William remains uncertain.
