Don’t be quick to discard those empty plastic bottles. Instead, you can turn them into useful kitchen tools with just a few simple steps.
Transform That Plastic Bottle into a Handy Kitchen Tool
Begin by grabbing a plastic bottle and a pair of scissors. Carefully cut the bottle in half across its body. Then, take an iron nail and hold it with pliers. Heat the nail over an open flame until it becomes red hot.
With the heated nail, puncture the bottom of the plastic bottle to create holes. Aim for about 5 to 6 holes. The hot nail quickly melts through the plastic, making the task easy and efficient.

If the nail cools, you can reheat it to continue making holes. No nail? No problem. Use a piece of wire instead, heating it similarly to form holes in the bottle’s bottom.
Next, make two additional small holes on the bottle’s body. Thread a wire through these and tie it tightly to secure.
A Plastic Bottle for Filtering Leftover Food

Ever face the dilemma of food leftovers clogging your sink? Simply pour any leftover soup or noodles through your newly crafted plastic bottle strainer. The solid bits will stay inside the bottle, preventing them from entering your drainage system. Afterwards, dispose of the excess food by just removing the bottle and dumping its contents into the trash.
Prevent Clogged Drains with This Homemade Strainer
Using a plastic bottle as a strainer helps keep food waste out of your pipes, reducing the frequency of cleaning your dishwasher’s filter. When the bottle gets dirty or worn out, just swap it for another plastic one, and youโre good to go!

The bottle can also serve as a holder for cleaning sponges or wire brushes. Once cleaned, place the tool back in the bottle, and any residual water will drain through the holes, preventing soggy, stale-smelling sponges.
Moreover, the top part of the bottle can conveniently serve as a food preservation tool. Cut off the neck of the bottle and use it as a seal for storage bags. Just screw the cap on, and voila, your food storage is sealed!
