In a 1996 interview, he reflected on his struggle, saying, “I was a stutterer. I couldn’t talk. So my first year of school was my first mute year, and then those mute years continued until I got to high school.”

Throughout his long and illustrious career, Jones appeared in various other notable films, such as Conan the BarbarianComing to AmericaField of Dreams, and many more. In 2011, he received an Honorary Academy Award, joining the elite group of performers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
