Ricky Nelson, born Eric Hilliard Nelson, was a legendary teen idol of the 50s. The DC-3 plane Ricky boarded with his then-girlfriend caught fire, but the pilot managed to land it. However, all the passengers on board lost their lives. The true cause of the accident remains a mystery, with speculations about problems with the gasoline heater.
Despite the tragic loss of their father, Ricky’s sons, Matthew and Gunnar, have continued his musical legacy. They are musicians in their own right and view their music as an ongoing tribute to their father, whom they consider their best friend.
