Ben Affleck claims that he started drinking because he felt ‘stuck’ in his marriage to Jennifer Garner.

Marriage, a complex and challenging process, is described as a rollercoaster ride with highs and lows by those who have been through it.

Similarly, as those who have gone through it can attest, divorce is not easy. As a result, it is critical to carefully deliberate and confirm certainty before entering into matrimony.

For celebrities, the added strain and stress of being married and divorced in public heighten the difficulties they confront in their relationships. While some famous couples overcome these challenges, others break under the strain.

The well-known relationship between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner is a prime illustration of this. Their romantic journey began in 2004 and ended in marriage in 2005.

However, after a decade of marriage and the birth of three children, their paths diverged, resulting in their separation in 2015 and divorce in 2018. Nonetheless, what causes contributed to their unfortunate split?

Despite their divorce, Affleck and Garner have managed to keep a cordial relationship for the sake of their children. They’ve been seen attending their children’s events together and have progressively become more candid about the complexities of their previous relationship.

Garner compared their marriage to being stuck in a “circus.” The constant media attention and subsequent paparazzi presence made it nearly impossible for them to live a regular life and raise their children peacefully.

During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Ben Affleck confessed honestly that he felt stuck throughout his marriage to Jennifer Garner. Despite his discontent, he felt obligated to persevere for their children’s well-being.

“I was torn,” Affleck confessed freely. “I couldn’t leave because of my children but I wasn’t happy either. What exactly did I do?” Because he felt trapped, he turned to alcohol as a coping strategy. “I resorted to drinking a bottle of scotch on the couch, only to learn it wasn’t the answer.”

Following their divorce, Affleck acknowledged the need to treat his long-standing alcohol addiction and entered a recovery facility.

He has no regrets about their divorce and feels that they would have been in continual dispute if they had stayed together.

He admitted, “And you know what?” We’d undoubtedly wind up at each other’s necks. “I’d probably still be drowning myself in drink, partly my reaction to feeling trapped.”

Ben Affleck has overcome the sense of imprisonment that marred his first marriage to Jennifer Garner. He has recently resumed his connection with his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.

For now, Ben appears to be satisfied with his new companion, Jennifer Lopez. Furthermore, he has managed to maintain a cordial relationship with Jennifer Garner while navigating the difficulties of co-parenting their three children: Violet Anne (17), Seraphina Rose (13), and Samuel (10).
